Final NFL Mock Draft
The 2019 NFL Draft is a day away and many rumors are flying around that will keep us all off the scent of what is really going to happen on day 1….. Here is my final mock for the 2019 NFL Draft:
1-ARIZONA: KYLER MURRAY, QB, OKLAHOMA
Even though they drafted Josh Rosen a year ago, it looks like the Cardinals will have a hard time shaking off their interest in Murray and will ultimately select him at pick 1.
2-SAN FRANCISCO: NICK BOSA, EDGE, OHIO STATE
The Niners will be looking to fill the edge spot opposite of Dee Ford, and it has not been a secret that their staff is enamored with Nick Bosa.
3-WASHINGTON REDSKINS (FROM THE JETS): DWAYNE HASKINS, QB, OHIO STATE
TRADE—— It has been rumored that the Redskins will trade up for a top QB prospect, and the Jets have made it clear that they are interested in moving back. The Redskins would take their future signal caller and the Jets would gain some added draft capital.
4-OAKLAND RAIDERS: QUINNEN WILLIAMS, DT, ALABAMA
If Williams falls to 4, I do not see Mayock and Gruden making any outside the box moves. They need to take the biggest game wrecker in the draft and move their focus towards their next two first rounders.
5-TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS: DEVIN WHITE, LB, LSU
Devin White presents one of the highest upsides in this draft and fits into Tampa’s defensive scheme. This is a match that has been rumored for a while, and would be ideal for both parties because of the pieces in place to develop White.
6-NEW YORK GIANTS: JOSH ALLEN, EDGE, KENTUCKY
Replacing Eli Manning with the best passer available is the ideal situation for the Giants. However, Murray and Haskins are off the board and Josh Allen is a premier pass rusher who would be a day 1 starter in the Giants system.
7-JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: JAWAAN TAYLOR, OT, FLORIDA
Jacksonville have been doing their homework on tackles and are searching for a bookend on the line to help protect Nick Foles. Taylor would be a plug and play RT for them with the upside to be one of the top lineman in the game.
8-ATLANTA FALCONS (FROM THE LIONS): ED OLIVER, DT, HOUSTON
TRADE—— This is a beautiful fit from a scheme perspective because the falcons are in need of a lineman that is complementary to Grady Jarrett. They will have to trade up to get their hands on him, but Oliver has the ability to be an extreme playmaker at the 3 technique position.
9-BUFFALO BILLS: JONAH WILLIAMS, OT, ALABAMA
Buffalo should be searching for an Offensive Tackle early in the draft that can help support Josh Allen. Jonah Williams is a picture perfect mechanic who will offer stability as a pass protector and run blocker. This would be a no brainer selection if the draft somehow unfolds in the same way that this mock has.
10-DENVER BRONCOS: DREW LOCK, QB, MISSOURI
Denver acquired Joe Flacco via trade, but they should be looking for a younger option who can take over down the road. This would be a perfect opportunity for Lock to sit and learn behind an established (but diminishing) NFL Quarterback.
11-CINCINNATI BENGALS: ANDRE DILLARD, OT, WASHINGTON STATE
If the Bengals do not select a QB here, they should aim to acquire a pass protector who has the ability to keep Andy Dalton on his feet. Andre Dillard is a fit here, and he has the ability as a pass setter to protect the pocket early in his rookie season.
12-GREEN BAY PACKERS: TJ HOCKENSON, TE, IOWA
Putting another receiving threat in place for Aaron Rodgers should be one of Green Bay’s top choices. Hockenson is a complete Tight End prospect with high end ability as a blocker, pass catcher, and route runner.
13-NEW YORK GIANTS (FROM THE DOLPHINS): DANIEL JONES, QB, DUKE
TRADE—— The Giants make a move to get what they could perceive as their franchise QB when Eli walks out the door.
14-DETROIT LIONS (FROM THE FALCONS): MONTEZ SWEAT, EDGE, MISSISSIPPI STATE
TRADE—— Sweat has a heart issue that has caused some teams to take him off of their draft board. But, Sweat would be a perfect fit opposite of Trey Flowers and has immense upside.
15-NEW YORK JETS (FROM THE REDSKINS): BRIAN BURNS, EDGE, FLORIDA STATE
TRADE—— In this scenario, the Jets would acquire a high upside pass rusher who fits their 3-4 defense. If Burns continues to add more weight, he will be an impactful player for their defense.
16-CAROLINA PANTHERS: BYRON MURPHY, CB, WASHINGTON
The Panthers could also address edge at this pick, but they have shown interest in Byron Murphy and would pair up well with Donte Jackson.
17- MIAMI DOLPHINS (FROM THE GIANTS): CHRISTIAN WILKINS, DT, CLEMSON
TRADE—— Wilkins would offer a consistent 3 down threat on the inside and is a step in the right direction towards changing the culture in Miami because of his demeanor.
18- MINNESOTA VIKINGS: CODY FORD, OL, OKLAHOMA
The Vikings are in desperate need of Offensive Line help, and Cody Ford has the versatility to be aligned at Right Tackle and Guard.
19- TENNESSEE TITANS: DK METCALF, WR, OLE MISS
I have Metcalf falling due to 4 QB’s being taken before him and a lot of other talent going early. it has been rumored that teams think DK has been popularized by the media and is not a clear cut 1st rounder. He would be an ideal fit across the formation from Corey Davis and has the upside to be a lethal pass catcher.
20- PITTSBURGH STEELERS: DEVIN BUSH, LB, MICHIGAN
There has been some recent buzz about the Steelers potential taking Rock Ya-Sin with this pick, but i believe that Bush will be too good to pass up if he is still on the board at pick 20. His range, processing, and ability to finish as a tackler will make him a centerpiece of this defense.
21- SEATTLE SEAHAWKS: CLELIN FERRELL, EDGE, CLEMSON
Ferrell is a technically proficient edge rusher who has value on all 3 downs. He would be Frank Clarks replacement on the defensive line.
22- BALTIMORE RAVENS: GARRETT BRADBURY, OC, NCST
The Ravens have a need at center and Bradbury has the plug and play ability to take over and produce at a high rate early in his rookie campaign.
23- HOUSTON TEXANS: DALTON RISNER, OL, KANSAS STATE
Houston is in desperate need of Offensive line help to keep Watson’s jersey clean, and Risner has the versatility, smarts, traits, and toughness to play at any of the 5 OL positions minus Left Tackle.
24- OAKLAND RAIDERS: JOSH JACOBS, RB, ALABAMA
The Raiders are in need of a workhorse back after Marshawn Lynch retired. Jacobs presents the ability to function as an intuitive runner with contact balance and change of direction, while also having an impact as a pass catcher and blocker.
25- PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: JEFFERY SIMMONS, DT, MISSISSIPPI STATE
The Eagles like to stockpile defensive line talent and they have shown interest in Simmons. They would be getting a top 10 talent who fell due to an off the field issue and an injury.
26- INDIANAPOLIS COLTS: JOHNATHAN ABRAM, S, MISSISSIPPI STATE
Abram would be a perfect compliment to Malik Hooker because of his ability to enforce in the box.
27- OAKLAND RAIDERS: NOAH FANT, TE, IOWA
Oakland continues to add more offensive weapons to enhance Carr’s supporting cast.
28- LOS ANGELES CHARGERS: ROCK YA-SIN, CB, TEMPLE
Putting talent opposite of Hayward would allow the Chargers to have a formidable duo of Corners. Rock Ya-Sin has the upside to be a quality pass defender in the league.
29- SEATTLE SEAHAWKS: N’KEAL HARRY, WR, ARIZONA STATE
The addition of an outside receiving threat such as Harry would give Wilson a reliable target who is especially effective on 50/50 balls.
30- GREEN BAY PACKERS: MARQUISE BROWN, WR, OKLAHOMA
Green bay has room to add another WR to the roster, and Brown has rare explosivness and playmaking ability. The concern with him is just how his frame will hold up at the next level.
31- Los Angeles Rams: Erik McCoy, IOL, Texas A&M
McCoy still has some room to develop, but would be an immediate starter at Center and can turn into a heavily reliable blocker down the road.
32- New England Patriots: Dexter Lawrence, DT, Clemson
Tight End is a definite posibility here, but gaining an anchor in the middle of the D-Line is also an impactful move.
