Mitchell Trubisky Versus GB: Quick Thoughts
In the Bears’ 10-3 loss to the Green Bay Packers, Chicago’s QB, Mitchell Trubisky, was noticeably shaken by the vastly improved Packers defense that has taken form due to GM Brian Gutekunst’s acquisitions in both free agency and the draft. Trubisky’s less than stellar performance and how it correlated to a loss just goes to show how important the Bears Quarterback is to this teams success. Chicago has a filled out roster on each side of the ball, and their dominant D mixed with their diverse ground game makes them a formidable threat. But then also add in the promise of the passing game, which includes a group talented options such as Allen Robinson, Tarik Cohen, Anthony Miller, Taylor Gabriel, and even David Montgomery. But in order to tap into the influx of pass catching talent, we NEED Mitch Trubisky to show more improvement. He is the key to opening up this offense under the play calling brilliance from Matt Nagy, and Mitch needs to step up and cut out his inconsistencies ASAP (there’s only 15 games left in the season, Mitch).
Trubisky is an impressive athlete with amazing physical traits, but my issue with him has always been his decision making and mechanics. The combination of those two negatives from Mitch have always been his downfall in big moments, and he has not shown a lot of consistency in those areas. This is Trubisky’s THIRD season, he has a plethora of weapons, and has access to a brilliant offensive mind. So he has ZERO excuses to do anything other than come out and light the league on fire in his next 15 games.
Bears fans, if the team you love has any chance of reaching their true potential, Mitchell Trubisky needs to boost his level of play a couple notches. They traded up for his services and passed up on the likes of Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes in the process, which means that the pressure is intensifying.
